Because of security and health issues nearby the Covid-19, the USA imposed the travel restrictions from Europe. The WTA Chairman and CEO Steve Simon said that this time the Miami Open and Volvo Car Open in Charleston will not take place.
There is nothing more essential than securing the health of our players, employees, volunteers, and fans who participate in our tournaments, as well as the public. We are upset, however, the judgment was made in the interest of general wellbeing and security, which is our main concern. The WTA will work with our players and tournament directors to make a decision about the European clay-court season next week.
in the meantime, International Tennis Federation ( ITF) declared that to postpone all ITF-owned and authorized competitions of the women's and men's ITF World Tennis Tour, the ITF World Tennis Tour Juniors, the ITF Beach Tennis World Tour and ITF Seniors Tour until 20 April 2020. This postponement tournament include Fed Cup Finals, which is scheduled for 14-19 April 2020 and Fed Cup Play-Offs which is scheduled for 17-18 April 2020 at multi-locations in the globe.
This is checked weekly by the ITF to allow play opportunities to resume as soon as the situation permits.
