The Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) schedule 2020 has been announced. WTA has expanded its schedule with two new WTA Premier events and three WTA International tournaments, such as Adelaide, Australia, Berlin, Lyon (France), Bad Homburg (Germany) and Albany (New York, USA). All International level tournament prize money was also increased.
The 2020 WTA Schedule features a total of 60 events, which include 55 WTA events, 4 Grand Slams, and the Olympics. The WTA 2020 schedule first event will start with one premier and two international events such as Brisbane International, Shenzhen Open and Auckland Open on 6 January 2020. In the second week, the new hard court tournament Adelaide International and Hobart International will be held on 13 January before the Australian Open 2020. The WTA competitions have amended their prize cash dispersion. The 32 International level occasions will be increasing their prize cash by 10% and every competition will offer at least $275,000.
It marks the 47th year since 1973 when it was established by Billie Jean King, it unites all women’s tennis players under one tour. Since then WTA Tour has more popular and over 1,800 athletes and $ 179 million prize money to be played at tournaments worldwide.
