Australian Open: Fourth Round Previews (Men)

24 January 2010 No Comment

Verdasco vs Davydenko
Both players are in great shape and had easy matches so far in the tournament. Even though Davydenko is one of the favourites of the tournament, Verdasco will surely cause problems to the russian (who leads the head to head meetings with 4-1).

Djokovic vs Kubot
Novak Djokovic will surely have an easy task against Kubot, who reached the fourth round because Mikhail Youzhny was forced to withdraw. The two met only once and the Djoker won the match.

Tsonga vs Almagro
While Almagro reached the fourth round for the first time this year, Tsonga is used to the Australian Open as he played the 2008 final. Almagro faced only unseeded player but Tsonga had a hard task in the third round against the german Tommy Haas, which he eventually defeated in four sets. This is the first match between the two players.

Federer vs Hewitt
Federer and Hewitt played 23 matches togheter from which 16 were won by the swiss champion. The support of the crowds will surely boost Hewitt’s confidence and also cause trouble for Federer, who still remains the big favourite of the tournament.
